General Statistical Resources

American FactFinder
American FactFinder is a portal to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, including the Decennial Census of Population and Housing, American Community Survey, Economic Census, Annual Survey of Manufactures, County Business Patterns, and Population Estimates Program. FactFinder also allows you to map the data to various levels of geography.

FedSats - provides access to the full range of official statistical information produced by the Federal Governments. It   links to more than 100 agencies that provide data and trend information on such topics as economic and population trends, crime, education, health care, aviation safety, energy use, farm production and more. Searchable by subject, agency, and geography.

Agriculture

Agriculture Outlook: Statistical Indicators
The statistical indicators include data on individual commodities, the general economy, agricultural trade, farm income and expenses, farm prices, food prices and expenditures, and other statistical indicators of the food and agriculture system.

Agriculture Census
The Census of Agriculture, taken every five years, is a complete count of U.S. farms and ranches and the people who operate them. The Census looks at land use and ownership, operator characteristics, production practices, income and expenditures and many other areas. The data is available from Census 1992 to forward. 

The National Agricultural Statistics Service
It provides timely, accurate, and useful statistics in service to U.S. agriculture. The survey results and  reports cover  virtually every aspect of U.S. agriculture. Production and supplies of food and fiber, prices paid and received by farmers, farm labor and wages, farm finances, chemical use, and changes in the demographics of U.S. 

Farm Economy (USDA ERS)
Farm Economy measures, forecasts, and explains indicators of economic performance for the U.S. agricultural sector and major crops and livestock and their products, providing a perspective on farm sector financial health and factors influencing commodity markets. It also provides wheat outlook, feed out look, oil crops outlook, as well as world agriculture demand and supply estimates. 

Farm Labor
The data contains regional and national data for self-employed, unpaid, and hired workers and wage rates for selected weeks; also hired worker numbers and wage rates for selected states. The data is updated quarterly. 

Land Use from National Resource Survey
It provides the maps depict U.S. croplands, grazing lands, forest lands, and wetlands by acreage and their threats (e.g. soil erosion) Includes statistical tables in HTML or ASCII format. Users also can brows the subject such as Agronomy Erosion, Air Quality, Biology, and more. 

Air Quality and Animal Agriculture Fact Sheets
Full Text Report on air quality resource concerns (Odors, Ozone Precursors, Particulate Matter, and Greenhouse Gases) as they relate to livestock operations.

Business & Economy 

Economic Statistics Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA)
Used extensively by policymakers and businesses, BEA provides updated quantitative view of analysis and statistics about U.S Economy including Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Personal Income and Outlay, Corporate Profits, Government Current Receipts and Expenditures, Supplemental Estimates. 

Business Statistics by Zip Code
County Business Patterns collect data annually and provide economic profile including data on total number of establishments by employment-size classes as well as employment, payroll, and number of establishments by industry for states, counties, and zip codes from 1994 to the most recent year. Statistics are available by zip code.

Economic Census 
The Economic Census profiles American business every 5 years, from the national to the local level. Covers construction, manufactures, minerals, retail trade, service, transportation and wholesale trade industries.

Bureau of Labor Statistics National and states economy status reflected by data on unemployment rate, hourly earning, consumer price index, products price index, and more.

Economic Indicators
Economic Indicators.gov is brought to you by the Economics and Statistics Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce. It provides access to the daily releases of key economic indicators from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the U.S. Census Bureau.

Employment and Unemployment (BLS)
It contains statistics on employment & unemployment, inflation, pay & benefits, and more. Browse by subjects.

E-Stats Census Bureau (US Census)
E-Stats collects survey data from plants and firms conducting e-business. It is for measuring the electronic economy including manufacturing, merchant wholesale trade, retail trade, and selected services industries. Agriculture, agriculture, mining, construction, and utilities as well as non-merchant wholesalers  are not included.  

Foreign Trade Statistics (US Census)
It contains international export and import statistics by various commodity classification (SAIC) and country breakdowns; historical trade balances going back as far as 1960; Commodity and country detail for each state, top 15 trading countries, and more. 

FRB Statistics Releases and Historical Data
Federal Reserve Board FRB provides comprehensive statistical data on current and historical data indexes. It also contains daily interest rate, exchange rate, and more.

Laborsta
Labor statistical data from over 200 countries or territories from LABORST. Mutiple statistical databases are operated by the International Bureau of Organization Bureau of Statistics

National Economic Accounts
BEA’s national economic statistics provide a comprehensive view of U.S. production, consumption, investment, exports and imports, and income and saving. These statistics are best known by summary measures such as gross domestic product (GDP), corporate profits, personal income and spending, and personal saving.

Producer Price Indexes 
The Producer Price Index (PPI) program measures the average change over time in the selling prices received by domestic producers for their output. The prices included in the PPI are from the first commercial transaction for many products and some services.

Statistical Abstract of the United States 
published since 1878, is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States.

Statistics of U.S. Business 
Data files used in the Statistics of U.S. Businesses (SUSB) program were created from the annual County Business Patterns (CBP) files. The SUSB data files are developed in cooperation with, and partially funded by, the Office of Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Tax Statistics Internal Revenue Service:
Welcome to Tax Stats. Here you will find a wide range of tables, articles, and data that describe and measure elements of the U.S. tax system.

Members Financial Data by Country (International Monetary Foundation)
Summary of IMF members’ quota, reserve position, SDR holdings, outstanding credit, recent lending arrangements, projected payments due to the IMF, and monthly historical transactions with the Fund. Update monthly as one month before the current month.

Economics and Statistics (Asian Development Bank)
ADB economics and statistics provide comprehensive economic analysis and most current economic, financial and social data on ADB's regional members. The publications Asian Development Outlook and Key Indicators are updated on regular basis. ADB also publishes special analytical report such as food price and inflation in developing country.

Small Business Research and Statistics 
provides access to a wide variety of data for and about small business.

Crime & Justice Statistic

Bureau of Justice Statistics(B JS) U.S. Department of Justice
BJS is the primary resource for crime and justice statistics. BJS provides information on crime, criminal offenders, victims of crime, and the operation of justice systems at all levels of government. These data are used by Federal, State, and local policymakers in combating crime and ensuring that justice is both efficient and evenhanded.

Black Victims of Violent Crime  BJS
Statistics and analysis about violent crime experienced by non-Hispanic blacks. Findings include violent victimization rates by victim characteristics. Also examined are crime characteristics, including weapon use, offender race, police reporting, and police response to violent crime incidents.

Capital Punishments Statistics
Latest and historical capital punishment statistics from BJS. Other selected statistical data such as Executions, 1930-2007 and Prisoners under sentence of death, 1953-2006  available as individual linked documents.

Correction Statistics BJS
Statistical summary and selected statistics including capital punishment,jails, prisons, and probation & parole.

Crime & Justice Data Online BJS
Statistics Publications Searchable statistical databases for statistic data on crime and justice by state or local level from the Bureau of Justice, including Crime Trend, Homicide trends and characteristics, Law Enforcement Management Administrative Statistics, and Justice Expenditure and Employment Statistics.

Crime Statistical and References
National Criminal Justice Reference Services Provide quick reference and some statistical documents. It contains annotated links to national organizations, federal agencies, international sources of information. 

Statistical Abstract - Law Enforcement, Courts, & Prisons Section  
United States Bureau of the Census. It provides presents data on crimes committed, victims of crimes, arrests, and data related to criminal violations and the criminal justice system

Federal Justice Statistics Resource Center (FJSRC)
FJSRC provides uniform case processing statistics across all stages of the Federal criminal justice system. Information contains comprehensive information describing suspects and defendants processed in the Federal criminal justice system. 

Indicators of School Crime and Safety National Center for Educational Statistics
This annual report examines crime occurring in school as well as on the way to and from school. It provides the most current detailed statistical information to inform the Nation on the nature of crime in schools. 

Statistical Survey of Federal Death Penalty System
This Survey provides information regarding the federal death penalty system since the enactment of the first modern capital punishment statute in 1988.  The document contains statistical survey report with statistical overview, statistical highlights for 1988-2000.

Uniform Crime Reports
Includes the publications: Crime in the United States, Hate Crime Statistics, and Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted.  

Defense & Military

Statistic Abstract: National Security & Veterans Affairs
Data are presented on national defense and its human and financial costs; active and reserve military personnel; and federally sponsored programs and benefits for veterans, and funding, budget and selected agencies for homeland security.

Center for Defense Information
The Center for Defense Information (CDI) provides expert analysis on various components of U.S. national security, international security and defense policy.

SIPRI Yearbook
SIPRI’s yearbook provides reports on weapon developments, arms transfers and production, military spending and armaments, as well as on arms limitations, reductions and disarmament. 

Personnel & Procurement Statistics Department of Defense
DOD provides detailed Military Casualty Information with most recent military death statistics on Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force. The Casualty summary available by war, by state, and by code.  Historical statistics available by war name.

Federal Procurement Data System Next Generation (FPDS-NG)
FPDS-NG is the official web site for all federal procurement data and reports. The FPDS-NG site requires registration for a user account and is free to the public.

Full and complete Report to Congress on terrorism regard to countries and groups.

2009 Statistical Abstract: Education  
Data presents data primarily concerning formal education as a whole, at various levels, and for public and private schools. Data shown relate to the school-age population and school enrollment, educational attainment, education personnel, and financial aspects of education. In addition, data are shown for charter schools, computer usage in schools, distance education, and adult education.

National Center for Education Statistics  
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is the primary federal statistical resource for education.

Digest of Education Statistics
It contains information on a variety of subjects in the field of education statistics, including the number of schools and colleges, teachers, enrollments, and graduates, in addition to educational attainment, finances, federal funds for education, libraries, and international education. Full text are available for the year of 1995 to present.

Quick statistical data and summaries on education assessment, early childhood, elementary/secondary, and international education.

Condition of Education  
An annual report to Congress by the National Center for Education Statistics that focuses on 60 indicators, representing a consensus of professional judgment on the most significant national measures of the condition and progress of education.

National Education Assessments 
Provided by the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) as the only nationally representative, covers the assessment of what America's students know and can do in various subject areas.

Projection of Education Statistics
This annual publication provides projections for key education statistics. It includes statistics on enrollment, graduates, teachers, and expenditures in elementary and secondary schools, and enrollment, earned degrees conferred, and current-fund expenditures of degree-granting institutions. For the Nation, the tables, figures, and text contain data on enrollment, teachers, graduates, and expenditures for the past 14 years and future projections.

Indicators of School Crime and Safety National Center for Educational Statistics
This annual report examines crime occurring in school as well as on the way to and from school. It provides the most current detailed statistical information to inform the Nation on the nature of crime in schools.  

Education Statistics by National Education Association 
US Educational statistics including full rankings by state, average teacher salaries by state and many more reports like status of America public school teacher.

The Nation's Report Card - National Assessment of Educational Progress
NAEP provides national and state results in 8 subject areas, including mathematics, reading, writing, and science. Results have been produced for the nation and participating states and other jurisdictions since 1990. It allows users create statistical tables and graphics to help you find what the nation's students know and can do. State Profiles present key data about each state's student and school population and its NAEP testing history and results. State Comparison tool can generate comparison report by subjects, grade, and students group.

National Education Goal Report (Department of Education)
The National Education Goals Panel is charged with monitoring national and state progress toward the National Education Goals. The annual report ranks national progress on 17 education goals and states on 34 subjects, ranging from childhood immunizations to test scores to teacher education. Updated reports availability vary.

World Data on Education
focuses on basic descriptions of the main characteristics of the organization and functioning of national education systems provided to UNESCO by 158 countries. 

Employment and Income

Bureau of Labor Statistics
Primary federal statistics resources on employment and income. Featured sections are listed below:

Statistics and Data Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
OSHA’s statistics and data are searchable within its databases. Users can generate OSHA’s inspection report by using OSHA’s query tools. SIC and NAIC manual are also listed. User can search The North American Industry Classification System ( NAIC) by keyword. 

National and State Poverty Statistics
Census statistical data provide detailed information on poverty from the most recent reports, briefs, highlights, and data sheet. 

Labor Force, Employment, & Earnings
As part of 2009 Statistical Abstracts, the section presents statistics on the labor force; its distribution by occupation and industry affiliation; and the supply of, demand for, and conditions of labor.

Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW)
Access a quarterly count of employment and wages reported by employers covering 98 percent of U.S. jobs, available at the county, MSA, state and national levels by industry.

 Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides online historical statistics for:

Community Health Status Report and Indicators
The CHSI report contains over 200 measures for each of the 3,141 United States counties. Community health profile can be generated and can serve as starting point of assessment of needs, quantification of vulnerable populations, and measurement of preventable diseases, disabilities, and deaths. The CHSI allows users to visually compare counties with their peer counties.  

Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUPnet)
HCUPnet provides comprehensive national statistics and trends and selected state statistics about hospital stays. HCUPnet allow users to generate statistics using data from HCUP's Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS), the Kids' Inpatient Database (KID), the State Inpatient Databases (SID) and the State Emergency Department Databases (SEDD).

Injuries, Illnesses, and Fatalities (IIF) by Department of Labor
It provides program provides data on illnesses and injuries on the job and data on worker fatalities. Statistical Databases such as Occupational Injuries & Illnesses and Industry Data and Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries allow users to create customized table and export data. 

National Center for Health Statistics
NCHS is the Federal Government's principal vital and health statistics agency.  NCHS data systems include data on vital events as well as information on health status, lifestyle and exposure to unhealthy influences, the onset and diagnosis of illness and disability, and the use of health care.

    provides detailed statistical data listed by disease topics and states.
  • National Health Data and Statistics by Topic
    This is a starting point for to scientific data, surveillance, health statistics and laboratory information.
  • CDC Children Growth Chart
    The growth charts consist of a series of percentile curves that illustrate the distribution of selected body measurements in U.S. children. Pediatric growth charts   have been used by pediatricians, nurses, and parents to track the growth of infants, children, and adolescents in the United States since 1977.
  • HIV/AIDS Surveillance Report
    Contains tabular and graphic information about U.S. AIDS and HIV case reports, including    data by state, metropolitan statistical area, mode of exposure to HIV, sex, race/ethnicity, age group, vital status, and case definition category.
  • Mortality and Morbidity Weekly  
    The MMWR weekly contains data on specific diseases as reported by state and territorial health departments and reports on infectious and chronic    diseases, environmental hazards, natural or human-generated disasters, occupational diseases and injuries, and intentional and unintentional injuries.

Drug Enforcement Administration State Factsheets
DEA provides  drug situation overview and statistical data by state. Charts and graphic data are available. It also provide comprehensive educational information on individual drugs.

National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems (NAPHSIS)
Created in 1933 as an association of public health professionals in the United States concerned about vital records and health statistics. NAPHSIS provides research or survey reports offered by its member.

National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health
Add Health is a school-based study of the health-related behaviors of adolescents in grades 7-12. It has been designed to explore the causes of these behaviors, with an emphasis on the influence of social context. Users can pick variables, type of central tendency, and type of statistics. 

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive
SAMHDA provides free, ready access to comprehensive research data on substance abuse and mental health problems in a variety of formats. The data include the U.S. general and special populations, annual series, and designs that produce nationally representative estimates. Some of the data acquired and archived under SAMHDA have never before been publicly distributed.

WHO Statistical Information System(WHOSIS)
WHOSIS comprises more than 70 indicators, which can be accessed by way of a quick search, by major categories, or through user-defined tables.

World Health Report
Published annually by World Health Organization since 1995, the report combines an expert assessment of global health, including statistics relating to all countries, with a focus on a specific subject.

HNPStats World Bank
HNPStats allows users to search health data for countries worldwide. Each country’s data sheets showing summary indicators for health status, health determinants, and health finance.

Census State Population Projections
Center for Disease Control's Wonder extractor allows the user to pick geographies, race, gender, age, and time for the estimates database. Geographies, times, and demographics can be picked for the projection database. Users can create a two dimensional table using any of five variables.  

Census Atlas of the United States
A variety of topics are covered in the Census Atlas, ranging from language and ancestry characteristics to housing patterns and the geographic distribution of the population. The complete atlas is available in PDF file.

Historical Decennial Census Population and Housing Counts
Selected Census historical data from 1790-1990. 

Historical Cense Browser
Allow users can generate data by selecting census year from 1790 to 1960 and by selecting listed categories: general population, education & literacy, economy/manufacturing/employment, Race/Place of birth, as well as Slave population. 

Population Finder by Zip Code
Find a specific area’s population by searching zip code. Also population ranking of the counties in the will be available too.

National Science Foundation (NSF) Science and Engineering Statistics
Primary resource on science and engineering statistics for national and state data on many topics.  

NSF Science and Engineering Indicators
The biennial report to Congress provides a broad base of quantitative information about U.S. science, engineering, and technology 

Women, Minorities, and Persons with Disabilities in S&E 
The report presents trends in the participation of women, minorities, and persons with disabilities in science and engineering fields. Topics include higher-education enrollments, degrees, institutions, and financial support and employment status, occupations, sectors, and salaries. NSF also provides special report such as Gender Difference in careers in academic institutions.  

NSF Statistics Topic A-Z 
Comprehensive statistical resources listed by topics. For example, "Workforce " will cover the below sub-topics. For example, under "immigrations", users can find "how much does U.S. reply on Immigration engineers?"

 NSF WebCASPAR
The database provides easy access to a large body of statistical data resources for science and engineering at U.S. academic institutions.  It includes NFS surveys of federal funds for research and development, NFS surveys of federal science and engineering support to universities and nonprofit institutions, NSF surveys of R &D expenditures at Universities and  colleges,  etc. 

 NSF Historical Industrial Research and Development Information System (IRIS).
The primary source of information on Research and Development (R&D) performed by industries within the United States since 1953.

Nature Resources – Statistical Abstract
The section of 2009 Statistical abstract presents data on the area, ownership, production, trade, reserves, and disposition of natural resources. Natural resources is defined here as including forestry, fisheries, and mining and mineral products.

National Climatic Data Center
T
he world's largest active archive of weather data. NCDC produces numerous climate publications and responds to data requests from all over the world.

U.S and Global extremes, Hurricane, tornados, storm, snow, drought, and more.

U.S. Climate at a Glance
