Borrowing and Renewals

Students

A limit of three (3) items may be borrowed at any one time. An item may be renewed once for an additional three day period, unless another user has requested that it be placed on "hold". After the renewal, materials must be allowed to remain in the library a minimum of seven (7) days to allow for possible use by other users. Circulation of the material may continue with the original borrower after this designated period. No more than two (2) renewals are allowed. Students may renew their items from the various computers throughout the campus or from home.  Create a Library PIN number by going to "My Library Record" under the "Services" column at the bottom of the Library's Home Page.

Faculty/Staff

An unlimited number of materials may be borrowed for seven days.  Renewals are possible, unless there is a high demand for the materials.  Faculty are able to place materials for viewing on Reserve in the Media Center for the whole semester.  This will enable students from different classes to have the material available the hours the Media Center is open.  Reserve Form for Media Items.

NOTE: Legitimately purchased copies of video recordings, DVDs, CDs, and cassette tapes may be placed on reserve in the Media Center.  Home made copies of television shows, movies, news, etc. on video recordings, DVDs, CDs and cassettes CAN NOT be placed on Reserve in the Media Center to be shown, because it will violate copyright compliance regarding Public Performance Rights. See the Copyright Page for more detail and related websites.

Overdue Notices and Replacement Costs

Starting June 8, 2008 media items returned more than 7 days late will incur a non-refundable $15.00 charge per item.  Patrons with outstanding library fees will not be allowed to check out any  library materials (reserves, main stacks and media materials) until their account is paid in full.

Faculty/Staff

Reminder notices will be sent to members of the faculty and staff when materials are overdue. If the material is not returned within one month after the due date, it is presumed lost. A statement of the replacement cost will be sent to the University Office of Business and Finance for collection from the borrower. A "flag" will be placed on the account, and will not be removed, until the account is paid.

Students

An overdue notice for materials not returned within one week after the due date will be sent to the borrower. If by the end of the third week the materials have not been returned, the media items are considered lost. At this time, the borrower's name and the amount of the replacement cost will be sent to the University Office of Business and Finance for charging to the student's account. A "flag" will be placed on the student's account, and will not be removed, until the student pays for the lost material.

Please Note: Once a bill for a lost videotape or other media material has been filed with the Office of Business and Finance, the media materials are not to be returned to the library. Items are to be paid for based on the replacement cost and a non-refundable fifteen dollar charge for each item replaced.
